Anesthesiology is the practice of medicine dedicated to the relief of pain and total care of the surgical patient before, during and after surgery. Anesthesia services at Fox Chase Cancer Center are provided by board-certified anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Our faculty have dual appointments in the Department of Anesthesiology at Temple Health.

The goal of the anesthesia plan is to keep you safe and comfortable during your surgical experience. Your anesthesiologist will meet with you before your surgery to discuss your medical condition and answer your questions. He or she will be with you in the operating room and the recovery room after your surgery.

In addition to relief of pain during a surgical procedure, it is equally important for your comfort and well-being to receive adequate pain relief after surgery. Our anesthesiologists are responsible for ensuring that your pain is under control before you are discharged from the recovery room. They may prescribe pain medications or perform specialized procedures to maximize comfort, which helps to minimize stress on your heart and blood pressure.
