Kara Stromberg is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She earned her bachelor’s degree in dietetics at the University of Delaware and completed her master’s in clinical nutrition and dietetic internship at New York University. Kara currently works for Temple University Health System where she is the Director of Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Research for Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus, and Fox Chase Cancer Center. Kara’s passion lies in growing the role of the Registered Dietitian while also ensuring that everyone in need of nutrition services has access to them. This passion earned her the 2017 Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the CT Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She currently serves as the State Regulatory Specialist for the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics where she oversees state policies and regulations impacting Registered Dietitians in PA. In 2023, she led the Pennsylvania state team during the National Nutrition Advocacy Summit, advocating for bills to expand Medical Nutrition Therapy for Medicare beneficiaries and for increased legislative support for those who receive SNAP benefits. She was awarded the prestigious 2024 Keystone Award by the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Kara also has a personal interest in research in oncology with a focus on how nutrition and registered dietitians can play a key role in patient outcomes. She was an award recipient for her research studying MANNA’s medically tailored meals in colorectal cancer patients by the MANNA Research Institute. Kara also received the 2024 Emerging Researcher Grant Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for her work in Comparing Measured Resting Energy Expenditure to Weight-Based Equations for Total Parenteral Nutrition Prescribing in Oncology Patients. Throughout her career, Kara has been featured in consumer publications, involved in several research projects, and has been published in several peer reviewed journals.
