Fox Chase Cancer Center Teams Up with Former NFL Player Chris Draft to Host FREE Community Lung Cancer Event

PHILADELPHIA (November 13, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is teaming up with Chris Draft, former NFL player and Founder, President and CEO of the Chris Draft Family Foundation, to host “Together Facing Lung Cancer”—a FREE educational event for the community. The event will take place on Saturday, November 16 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the main corridor of the Robert C. Young Pavilion on the Fox Chase Cancer Center campus in northeast Philadelphia (333 Cottman Avenue).

Fox Chase Takes Part in the Second Annual Joint Initiative to Screen Veterans at Risk for Lung Cancer

Drug Trial for Blood Cancers Shows Great Promise

PHILADELPHIA (November 04, 2013) Prior work in the research laboratory of Jean-Pierre Issa, MD, Director of Temple's Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology, showed that the activity of SGI-110 could be directly related to its ability to correct these bookmarks in DNA. Temple is the only local hospital participating in this trial and has enrolled the second-highest number of patients in the country.

Yanis Boumber Joins Fox Chase’s Department of Medical Oncology

PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 25, 2013)—Yanis Boumber, MD, PhD, has joined the department of medical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center after completing fellowship training at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Boumber specializes in treating patients with thoracic cancers, including lung cancer, thymoma, and mesothelioma.

NEW HOPE, PA (October 10, 2013)—The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Board of Associates will host the 17th Annual George Bramhall Memorial Art Exhibition and Sale—featuring works by more than 25 of the region’s finest artists—on Sunday, November 24 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at the Eagle Fire Hall (46 N Sugan Road in New Hope, PA). A percentage of the proceeds from the event will benefit research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
