With a close 3-2 game against the Houston Astros, the Phillies pulled together to earn yet another win for Philadelphia one late August night. Great teamwork is something that many of us know about throughout Temple Health, and the Fox Chase Radiation Oncology Department sponsored an employee and family event to see it happen.

The department had been planning a group o

uting for some time. The idea was to do something fun outside of work—something that would bring everyone together and include their families as well.

“We have a great department and we all work well together,” said department chair Eric Horwitz, MD, FABS, FASTRO. “Philly sports are very popular among our team and we thought this would be a great way to connect with each other in a more social setting.”

The outing included attendings, residents, staff, and their families—25 in all. Keeping family a priority, they picked a game right before Labor Day weekend before everyone’s kids went back to school, Dr. Horwitz explained.

While the idea came about last year, the team finally coordinated schedules and purchased their tickets in time to see a late summer game this season. The win that night made it even more exciting, but the evening was memorable for other reasons too.

“It was so nice to spend some time away from work doing something fun together,” said Dr. Horwitz. “The Fox Chase signage in the ballpark was very prominently featured, reminding us of what a great team we have right here… and that is the best win of all.”
