“I am honored to be chosen as a recipient of this prestigious award. This honor recognizes our collective effort to advance both patient care and public health, and I am grateful for my involvement in these initiatives,” said Farma.

“Dr. Farma is a compassionate, highly skilled surgeon who performs at a world-class level. His inspirational leadership has contributed to making Fox Chase Cancer Center a leading destination for patients and caregivers alike,” said Fox Chase President and CEO Robert Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS.

The Pennsylvania Impact Awards, presented by City & State Magazine, celebrates the state’s most outstanding corporate and civic leaders. City & State Magazine provides coverage of local news and culture that highlights characteristics of cities and states across the country.

“In addition to all the things that make Dr. Farma an outstanding physician and colleague, he is an active advocate for cancer awareness and a tireless fundraiser for organizations that support cancer research and patient care,” Uzzo said.

Farma regularly volunteers in the community, leading Fox Chase teams in the Colon Cancer Coalition’s Get Your Rear in Gear and the Melanoma Research Foundation’s Miles for Melanoma events.

In addition to being Chair of, and a Professor in, the Department of Surgery, Farma is also Surgical Director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program, as well as a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer Panel.
