PHILADELPHIA (November 21, 2024) — Jeffrey M. Farma, MD, FACS, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center, recently received a Pennsylvania Impact Award.
“I am honored to be chosen as a recipient of this prestigious award. This honor recognizes our collective effort to advance both patient care and public health, and I am grateful for my involvement in these initiatives,” said Farma.

The Pennsylvania Impact Awards, presented by City & State Magazine, celebrates the state’s most outstanding corporate and civic leaders. City & State Magazine provides coverage of local news and culture that highlights characteristics of cities and states across the country.
Their award honors individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership and set standards for excellence through their strong commitment to social responsibility and community impact. Recipients are featured in a special issue of the magazine that highlights their achievements and contributions to the community.
“In addition to all the things that make Dr. Farma an outstanding physician and colleague, he is an active advocate for cancer awareness and a tireless fundraiser for organizations that support cancer research and patient care,” Uzzo said.
Farma regularly volunteers in the community, leading Fox Chase teams in the Colon Cancer Coalition’s Get Your Rear in Gear and the Melanoma Research Foundation’s Miles for Melanoma events.
In addition to being Chair of, and a Professor in, the Department of Surgery, Farma is also Surgical Director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program, as well as a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer Panel.
Farma has been honored with many accolades and distinctions over the course of his career, including admission into the prestigious American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators and appointment as the State Chair of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. He has mentored numerous physicians throughout his career and has been recognized as a Top Doctor for the last seven consecutive years by Castle Connolly and Philadelphia magazine.
He is also a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the Society of University Surgeons.
