 Michael Noonan, DO, MS, an Assistant Professor in the Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Program.

PHILADELPHIA (February 13, 2025) — Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Noonan, DO, MS, as an Assistant Professor in the Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Program.

Noonan joins Fox Chase from Christiana Care Health System, where he served as a supportive and palliative care physician. In this role, he provided comprehensive palliative medicine services across various inpatient medical and surgical services.

The Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Program at Fox Chase provides for patients and their families, with a focus on reducing the patient’s pain and other distressing symptoms. The program is dedicated to addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs while being mindful of patient and family values.

Noonan received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and then completed an osteopathic rotating internship at Graduate Hospital. He also completed a family medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center and an addiction medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine.

From 2009 through 2021, Noonan worked as a primary care physician and hospitalist in Colorado and California. Throughout his career, Noonan has made significant contributions to palliative care and addiction medicine. His experience includes palliative care for individuals suffering from addiction, health advocacy for underserved populations, and the use of statistical modeling to improve care outcomes. He is also deeply committed to advancing mental health initiatives within palliative and addiction medicine.

He holds board certifications in family medicine and addiction medicine and has been involved in several professional organizations, including the Health First Colorado Drug Utilization Review Board, where he served as board member and board chairperson.
