PHILADELPHIA (August 8, 2023) — Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael G. Tecce, DO, as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgical Oncology.
Tecce will focus on complex cancer reconstruction using microsurgery in bone, soft tissue, and the lymphatic system. A Philadelphia native, he completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania followed by a microsurgical fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his undergraduate degrees in accounting and later premedical sciences from Saint Joseph’s University, also in Philadelphia.
His research interests include utilizing technology-based platforms to improve delivery of patient care, microsurgical reconstruction, and management of lymphedema.
He has published articles in a number of journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, JAMA Surgery, and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Physicians, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Tecce will be seeing patients at Fox Chase as well as Chestnut Hill Hospital. At these sites, in addition to providing high-level reconstructive services, he will be leading the development of a regional center of excellence in the management and treatment of lymphedema. This will be the only one of its kind in the region.
Tecce began his tenure at Fox Chase on July 5.
