PHILADELPHIA (August 20, 2015) – Fox Chase Cancer Center’s breast cancer program has earned full accreditation for the third time from The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the premier accreditation program for breast centers throughout the United States.
“As one of the first programs to successfully put itself up for evaluation three time by the NAPBC, we are grateful that others agree with what we so often state: you can’t get better breast care than at Fox Chase Cancer Center,” said Richard J. Bleicher, MD, FACS, Associate Attending Surgeon, Breast Clinical Program Leader, and Director of the Breast Fellowship Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Administered by the American College of Surgeons, the NAPBC awards accreditation based on 27 individual standards of breast care extending from benign to malignant disease, and it incorporates evaluation of standards of treatment.
In addition, the NAPBC considers components of care such as coordination of treatment via nurse navigation, support services, the credentials of the clinicians and nurses, and the quality improvement initiatives. This independent evaluation has been demonstrated to correlate with adherence to standard therapies and quality care. “
Fox Chase’s breast cancer treatment team offers the most advanced treatment options for breast cancer, and our multi-disciplinary team of nationally-recognized doctors has more experience in treating women with breast cancer than anywhere else in the region,” Bleicher adds. “I am very proud to be connected to such a prestigious organization that works to improve patient care throughout the country.”
