PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 31, 2013)—Steven J. Mattleman, MD, one of the pioneering cardiologists with the Pennsylvania Heart and Vascular–Temple Health practice, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Medicine as director of the Division of Cardiology. In this role, Dr. Mattleman will be working with the team at Fox Chase to optimize the Center’s cardiovascular services for cancer patients. More specifically, he will develop and implement quality, patient safety, and resource management for the Division of Cardiology, as well as assist in the continuing integration of services between Fox Chase and Jeanes Hospital.
"We are very pleased to have Dr. Mattleman take a leadership role as director of the Division of Cardiology at Fox Chase,” says J. Robert Beck, MD, chief academic officer and chief medical officer at Fox Chase Cancer Center. “He and his colleagues with the Pennsylvania Heart and Vascular–Temple Health group have a wealth of knowledge to offer our patients and will certainly help us build on the cardiovascular services we currently offer at our Center.”
In addition to his new role at Fox Chase, Dr. Mattleman will continue to play a vital role in the Pennsylvania Heart and Vascular–Temple Health practice—an active 20-member cardiology group practice based in Jenkintown, PA, and Northeast Philadelphia, which affiliated with Temple Health in May 2013.
Dr. Mattleman received his MD from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, where he also served as chief resident and chief cardiology fellow. He is a Phi Beta Kappa alumnus of Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA., and a member of a number of professional societies, including the Pennsylvania Medical Society, American College of Cardiology, and American Medical Association.
