Fox Chase’s Cancer Conversations Series Welcomes Danielle Ofri, MD

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 6, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center will be hosting a Cancer Conversations LIVE event featuring Danielle Ofri, MD—essayist, editor, and practicing physician in New York City—on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fox Chase Auditorium (Center Building, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia). At the event, Danielle will discuss her book What Doctors Feel, which addresses the emotional side of medical practice.

Physicians are assumed to be objective, rational beings, able to detach as they guide patients and families through some of life’s most challenging moments. But doctors’ emotional responses to the life-and-death dramas of everyday practice can have a profound impact on the medical care they provide. And while much has been written about the minds and methods of the medical professionals who save our lives, precious little has been said about their emotions.

In What Doctors Feel, Dr. Danielle Ofri has taken on the task of dissecting the hidden emotional responses of doctors, and how these directly influence patients.

There will be a book signing and light refreshments following the event. The event is FREE, but registration is required (seating is limited). To register, call 215-214-3954 or email [email protected].
