PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 11, 2013)—Online registration is now available for a one-day, no-cost symposium at Fox Chase Cancer Center for high school students to learn about potential careers in medicine, nursing, science, information technology, and business administration. The Health Careers Symposium will take place on Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the Fox Chase auditorium (333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia).
Modeled after a professional scientific conference, the day will include a plenary session with brief lectures on various career options and keynote presentations from former Fox Chase student researchers who have successfully entered into health-related careers. In addition, students will attend mini-career symposia, where Fox Chase clinical and research staff will discuss their work and provide hands-on experiences.
This first-ever event builds on the Center’s 30-year history of training high school researchers for future careers. Teachers also are invited to attend, and lunch will be provided for all participants.
