Kickball Team Supports Hope Lodge
-
The Office of Clinical Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center is kicking one out of the park in support of the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society.
Sixteen members of the department – including some of their significant others – came together to form a kickball team to raise money for Hope Lodge, which offers lodging at no cost for out-of-area cancer patients being treated in the Philadelphia area.
The group is competing for ZogSports, a charity-focused, co-ed social sports league that operates in major cities around the U.S. Participants play a game once a week and afterward go to a special happy hour with everyone who played that night. ZogSports donates 10 percent of all net proceeds and 100 percent of happy hour bar contributions to charities that teams choose.
For the Office of Clinical Research team, selecting Hope Lodge as their charity was an easy decision. “Hope Lodge does a lot for our patients,” says team captain Leslie Masi, lead quality assurance auditor at Fox Chase. “We try to do what we can to support them."
