This study is what is known as a cohort. The goal of a cohort is to look at a group of people over time and check in with them on their health. The health data used in this program can help us study many different health conditions. This may lead to better treatments and ways to prevent disease.
For this study, we will follow up with you every year (for at least 3 years) to do health surveys and get blood samples. In this program, you can learn more about your health and well-being and we can learn what resources our community needs to be healthy.
You may be eligible to join if:
- You are between the ages of 20 and 65 years old.
- You live in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware.
Key Information:
- You can join the program with or without health insurance.
- If you join, you can learn about your health by getting results from your data.
- We will pay you for doing surveys and giving blood once per year, and for answering short text message surveys every few weeks.
- Our team at Temple Health can help you schedule appointments and get care you need.
Blood Samples:
- Your blood sample can help us learn about health.
- If you agree to get results from your blood tests, you can:
- Learn important information about your health.
- Get help from our team to get you the care you need.
- If you choose to get results from the blood tests, you can change your mind at any time.
You may be wondering:
- What would I get from joining this study?
- We can learn important information about your health from your surveys and blood work and share it with you, if you want.
- If the survey or blood work show that you have health needs, our team can help connect you to the care you need.
- How does me being in the study help others?
- By learning about what our health needs are, Temple can help create programs to improve community health.
- How will you keep my information private?
- Temple researchers follow strict rules to keep your information safe.
- Surveys and blood work are kept in a secure system.
- Who will see my information?
- Only the study staff can see any personal information you give us for this study.
- Other researchers may see or use the study data, but will not see or get to use your personal information.
- How long will it take me to complete the surveys?
- The surveys take about 45 minutes to complete.
- When you fill out a survey, we will pay you for your time.
- Why are there so many questions in the survey?
- We want to be as thorough as possible so we can best understand your health needs.
- We understand that the survey may take some time to fill out.
- After you fill out a survey, we will pay you for your time.
- Why are you asking for blood samples?
- We would like to collect your blood sample to learn about your health and well-being and the well-being of others in our community.
- You have the choice to find out what we learn from your blood work, if you want to.
- When you give a blood sample, we will pay you afterwards.
- Does my doctor need to know about me being in the study?
- You do not need to let your doctor or other health providers know that you are in this study.
- If you do wish to tell your doctor, it will not affect the care you get.
- Can I leave the study if I change my mind?
- Yes. Reach out to our team by phone or email to let us know that you would like to leave the study.
