Common Effects of Cancer

  • Dysphagia - difficulty or discomfort in swallowing
  • Trismus – often called “lockjaw”, refers to patients who have limited ability to open their mouth
  • Dysphonia – hoarseness or other abnormal voice quality.
  • Dysarthria - difficult or unclear articulation leading to reduced speech clarity. 
  • Mild cognitive impairment (i.e. “chemobrain”) – mild difficulty with concentration and/or memory.
