Effective January 1, 2021 the Federal government requires all hospitals to make public their standard charges for items and services provided to patients.
There are two parts to this requirement.
The first part is to provide patients with a consumer-friendly method for estimating their out of pocket expense for commonly provided services. This information can be found below under “How much will I pay?”.
The second part is to publish a comprehensive machine-readable file with standard charges, including gross charge, payer-specific negotiated charges, minimum charge, maximum charge, and the self-pay price. This information can be found below under “Learn About Charges and Insurance Reimbursement”.
How Much Will I Pay?
Fox Chase is committed to helping you understand the cost of your care. The best way to understand what you will pay out-of-pocket is to work with your hospital and your insurance provider. You can call us at 215-728-2678 or 215-728-3162 to discuss your specific insurance plan and benefit design.
In general:
- Individuals with insurance will pay any copayments, coinsurance or deductible amounts.
- Individuals without insurance might be eligible for financial assistance or charity care, or may be able to receive a reduced price from the hospital under its self-pay policy.
You can obtain an estimate of your out of pocket costs by using our copay estimator tool. The link to the tool is below. You will be asked to enter some basic information about yourself, your insurance (if applicable), the Fox Chase location where you want to receive care, and the type of service you are seeking.
The copay estimator tool can only give you an estimate of your costs. Your insurance company is your best source for the actual expense you will incur for your care. For example, many people have a “secondary insurance” that will cover any copayments and deductibles. The copay estimator tool will not take that into account.
Please note: the copay estimator tool is new and is currently in a “testing” phase. We intend to refine the tool over the next few months to improve the patient experience and usefulness. For the best information on your out of pocket costs please contact your insurance provider or hospital financial counselors at 215-728-2678 or 215-728-3162.
For the best experience, we recommend opening the estimator tool in Google Chrome web browser.
