Fox Chase Cancer Center has an experienced team of doctors who work together to treat patients with basal cell skin cancer, squamous cell cancer, and rare forms of skin cancer, such as Merkel cell carcinoma. Our nationally-recognized surgeons and oncologists can design a comprehensive plan that includes specialized techniques and procedures for treating skin cancer.
Since early stage basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers rarely spread to regional lymph nodes or other parts of the body, standard surgery results in a cure in about 95% of all cases. For patients who do not opt for surgery or are not able to have surgery because of other medical conditions, radiation therapy may be given.
The skin cancer team meets regularly at our Cutaneous Multidisciplinary Tumor Board to review new or challenging cases in depth and reach a consensus on treatment strategies. Through this coordinated approach, we strive to offer the most thorough and personalized care and access to innovative therapies for your cancer.
We also provide a range of supportive care services to help manage symptoms or side effects you may experience and to assist you and your family as you go through treatment.
