Fox Chase Cancer Center is proud to be the first NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Philadelphia region to offer Adstiladrin® as a groundbreaking therapy for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). If you or a loved one are facing this diagnosis, and depending on the stage, type, and grade of your tumor, along with other factors, there may be a chance that Adstiladrin® could be the solution you've been searching for.

Understanding Adstiladrin®

Adstiladrin® is the first FDA-approved intravesical gene therapy for NMIBC. This innovative treatment is designed to target high-risk NMIBC that has not responded to traditional therapies like Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Adstiladrin® works by delivering a copy of the interferon alfa-2b gene directly into the bladder.

Once inside, the gene is expressed locally, leading to the production of interferon alfa-2b protein. This protein has powerful anti-tumor effects, helping to eradicate cancer cells within the bladder.

What to Expect During Treatment

Treatment with Adstiladrin® is administered directly into the bladder using a catheter. Unlike traditional therapies that may require frequent administrations, Adstiladrin® is typically given once every three months, reducing the treatment burden on patients. While the therapy may require some additional precautions, our team will be with you every step of the way to ensure your comfort and safety.
