The Samuel M.V. Hamilton Chair in Cancer Prevention
Established in 2012 by Dorrance (Dodo) Hamilton to support an outstanding leader in the field of cancer prevention and early detection research.
Margie L. Clapper, PhD
Deputy Scientific Director
Professor and Co-Leader, Cancer Prevention and Control Program
Dr. Clapper is internationally recognized for her significant contributions to the field of cancer prevention. In the early 1990s, she established a basic research program at Fox Chase, one of the first of its kind nationally, to develop strategies for the early detection and prevention of cancer. Findings from her innovative research approaches have enhanced our understanding of the biological basis of cancer susceptibility and led to the identification of several promising agents capable of inhibiting tumor formation. As Deputy Scientific Director and Co-leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Fox Chase, Dr. Clapper is fully committed to mentoring the next generation of cancer researchers and fostering new collaborations.
