PHILADELPHIA (October 2, 2018) – Fox Chase Cancer Center will again field a team  to raise funds at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) PurpleStride Philadelphia. The event will be held on Saturday, November 3 at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park.

PHILADELPHIA (October 1, 2018) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Fox Chase Cancer Center reminds women to schedule their screening test for breast cancer—the most reliable way to detect breast cancer early, when the disease is most treatable.

In a new publication, Neil Johnson, PhD, found that cancers with different types of BRCA1 mutations have varying susceptibilities to biological pathways that induce resistance to PARP inhibitors, an emerging class of cancer drugs

PHILADELPHIA (August 23, 2018) – Alexander Kutikov, MD, FACS, chief, Division of Urology and Urologic Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been named August’s Everyday Hero by the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED). The award is designed to showcase talented physicians who probably don’t view themselves as heroes, but to patients and colleagues they are.

PHILADELPHIA (September 21, 2018)— On September 21, Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are hosting the National Biden Cancer Summit in Washington, D.C., to drive the urgency of now by promoting new solutions, bringing together problem solvers, and telling stories that epitomize what it means to be cancer FIERCE. The Life Raft Group will announce a new initiative to strengthen and advance research for effective treatments of a rare subset of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) patients who have been unresponsive to the current standard treatments. 

PHILADELPHIA (September 17, 2018)— On September 20, 2018, J. Robert Beck, MD, Senior Vice President and Deputy Cancer Center Director at Fox Chase Cancer Center, will receive the West Oak Lane Charter School Community Champion Award, in recognition of Dr. Beck’s support of WOLCS’s STEM program.

PHILADELPHIA (September 11, 2018) – This one-mile walk around Fox Chase Cancer Center’s main campus is a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research and the postdoctoral research program. Participants will enjoy a variety of vendors, professional pet photos, animal rescue organizations, entertainment, refreshments, contests, and prizes.
