PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 6, 2014)—Stephen C. Rubin, MD, has joined the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology, where he will specialize in the treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers—including ovarian, uterine, cervical, and endometrial. Dr. Rubin has also been named Co-Clinical Leader of the Gynecological Service Line and Professor in the clinical investigator track of the Department of Surgical Oncology. In addition, he will hold the Paul Grotzinger and Wilbur Raab Chair in Surgical Oncology.

A nationally known expert in the management of ovarian cancer, Dr. Rubin's special interests include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, hereditary ovarian cancer, and ovarian cancer clinical trials. Previously, he served as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Health System and Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Research Program of Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center. Dr. Rubin also served as the Franklin Payne Chair in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was a Professor of obstetrics and gynecology with tenure.

Dr. Rubin received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology as well as a gynecologic oncology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Among his professional activities, Dr. Rubin is a member of numerous professional and scientific societies, including: the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, Society for Gynecologic Investigation, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Pelvic Surgeons, Philadelphia College of Physicians, Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia, and Mid-Atlantic Gynecologic Oncology Society.
Dr. Rubin has also served as an editor for some of the leading professional journals in his field, such as Gynecologic Oncology, International Journal of Oncology, and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
